2 Startups launched in the year 2017 have made life of Asthma patients easier in different ways – a World Asthma Day Feature

Nanoclean and RespirON are 2 promising products launched by startups in the same year to make living with asthma easier but in different ways. World Asthma Day falls on May 5th. Medicircle features significant efforts in the startup segment in the Indian arena on this front.

We hear about more and more cases of asthma these days as the air pollution levels go higher and higher. Asthma creates cough, wheezing, difficulty in breathing, chest pain etc. These symptoms in those who suffer from asthma acutely flare up even more and can deteriorate daily lives and routines. As per one of the reports, worldwide 300 million people suffer from asthma. Out of this 10% are Indians.

Nanoclean got established in the market in the year 2017 with the product “Nasofilter''. As the name suggests, it’s a nasal filter that costs just Rs. 10/-. In a couple of years of launching its first product, the startup launched AC filters that enable ACs to be turned into air purifiers and the cost is somewhere around Rs. 400/- only. Such cheap solutions to control big problems like asthma are the brainchild of IIT Delhi alumni Prateek Sharma, Tushar Vyas, and Jatin Kewlani. Their solution has been so fantastic that they won the ‘Startup National Award’ conferred by the President of India. Nasofilter was designed using nanotechnology and its users experience easy breathing and minimal pressure drop while breathing. The product is available in Indian and international markets like Vietnam, France, the Gulf, Indonesia, Thailand, UK etc. Abroad it gets sold in a different price range.

RespirON is the startup, Zeolr Technology’s first product in asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) management system. It just requires downloading the RespirON Smartphone application from Google Play Store and connecting it to the RespirON device. It hardly consumes 2% of the phone’s battery in a day. RespirON helps asthma patients with accurate analytics reports of adherence and compliance to the medications that they are taking. Through it patients can manage the current stage of their disease from a broad to minute level. Its features include usage monitoring option for health monitoring, puff counter option that tells medicines left, reminders option that helps in adhering to inhalers, find device option to find inhalers and out of range option to never forget the inhaler. RespirON is a great source to provide information to physicians for regular supervision of their patients suffering from either asthma or COPD. Roshit Gopinath and Ajay Kumar Saini are the founders of this startup.
