There are two major factors that determine a timely period - one of them being diet and lifestyle and the other being effective stress management. Adding protein is important as it is the key to managing effective fat loss and keeping weight under the ideal BMI (Body Mass Index) range to aid the menstrual cycle. 5 Foods that can help you treat irregular periods

Unripe Papaya - Eating papaya on a regular basis helps in contracting the uterus muscles. Apart from producing heat in the body, the fruit contains carotene. This substance stimulates or regulates that estrogen hormone levels in the body. Naturally, this induces periods or menses more frequently. No wonder, it is advised to abstain from this fleshy fruit during pregnancy.

Ginger - Ginger is highly recommended for regulating menstrual cycles and ridding away irregular periods. It is known as the best option to have especially when delayed period cycles.

Turmeric – Turmeric has a lot of medicinal value and it helps in regulating menstruation and balancing hormones due to its high antioxidant property. Its antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties relieve menstrual pain and alleviate PMS.

Carrots - Carrots are great for your eyes and also for balancing hormones. Whole raw carrots contain a unique fiber that helps regulate hormones by binding toxins, especially excess estrogen, getting it out of the body.

Carom seeds - Apart from clearing your bowels, it is yet another spice that can work miracles with your menstrual cycle. Gulping down a glass of boiled water with carom seeds or ajwain, helps stimulate the uterus effectively. The best part is that its anti-spasmodic qualities help in preventing menstrual cramps and pains as well.

Apart from adopting these effective, easy and home-based methods, it is always advisable to consult a doctor. Getting medical treatment from an expert is vital.
