Here are 8 amazing reasons for adding mouthwash into your regular oral care

The mouthwash market share in India is expected to increase by USD 158.15 million from 2021 to 2026, and the market's growth momentum will accelerate at a CAGR of 15.68%. Mouthwash and its importance are largely unfolding among the majority of the population.

Plaque is a sticky, bacterial-filled film that forms on your teeth and is removed when you brush your teeth. But in order to maintain the best oral health, daily mouthwash use must be added to the routine of brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. While mouthwash does not take the place of brushing and flossing, it does provide an additional layer of defense for your general dental health.

Benefits of using mouthwash

  • Reduce the risk of plaque buildup
  • Fight gum disease
  • Reducing tooth decay
  • Helps with canker sores
  • Freshens breath
  • Cavity protection
  • Reduces sensitivity
  • Reduces dry mouth

In terms of oral hygiene, mouthwash is not a substitute for brushing your teeth or flossing, and it is only effective when used properly. It's also critical to realize that not all mouthwashes can strengthen your teeth and that different product formulas contain different ingredients.

There are 4 types of mouthwash

  • Fluoride mouthwash - Mouthwashes with fluoride contain sodium fluoride, which helps guard teeth against decay and cavities. Being cautious when using this type of mouthwash is advised because fluoride can be found in toothpaste and tap water, and too much fluoride intake can be harmful to your general health.
  •  Antiseptic mouthwash - The most popular mouthwash is this one. People with mouth infections typically use this mouthwash, which typically contains alcohol, to prevent bacterial growth. Those who have halitosis or bad breath can also benefit from this. Avoid using antiseptic mouthwash excessively because it can stain teeth.
  • Cosmetic mouthwash - A mouthwash that merely serves to mask bad breath or freshen your breath without actually improving your oral health.
  • Natural mouthwash - Natural mouthwash performs the same functions as other mouthwashes, with the exception that its ingredients are all-natural. It is also a well-liked substitute for alcohol-free mouthwash. When compared to other kinds of mouthwash, their ingredients are less dangerous.

Most mouthwashes should only be used twice a day, though this can vary depending on the particular mouthwash you use and your dentist's recommendations. Daily use of mouthwash is a fantastic addition to your oral health routine. It is an excellent way to kill any dangerous bacteria that may have remained after brushing and flossing if used every day.
