The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has expedited the preparations for vaccination against coronavirus.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has expedited the preparations for vaccination against coronavirus.

The civic body is making its facilities ready for the vaccination process and also the instructions are being given to the concerned authorities of the facilities to form teams of dedicated members for the smooth operation of the process and also to handle the situation in case of adverse events.

The initial task of training the team members is on and expected to complete in the first week of the next month.
 

Initially, the BMC has planned to set up vaccination centers at eight civic hospitals including KEM, Sion, Nair, Cooper, Bandra Bhabha, V.N. Desai, Rajawadi, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital. The superintendent and medical superintendent of the concerned hospitals have been directed to form a team of dedicated members for the easy and effective administration of the vaccine.

 
BMC is in the process of procuring deep freezers and has set up a central vaccine storage facility at Kanjurmarg. Additional vehicles will also be deployed under police security to transport the vaccines from the central cold storage to the vaccination centers. 

Meanwhile, an ideal vaccination center is being developed at Cooper Hospital, Vile Parle, so that it can be replicated in other centers. Training of the field level staff will be completed by January 7, 2021.
 
In case of adverse events after vaccination, adequate facilities have been made available at suburban hospitals and medical colleges as per government guidelines.

As per the instructions given by the Central Government, so far, data of about 80,000 employees has been uploaded on the Covin portal.
