Maharashtra: Thane district records 1,671 new COVID-19 cases, 32 deaths

Thane district near Mumbai in Maharashtra recorded 1,671 new Covid cases taking the total tally to 1,67,014. The district recorded 32 deaths in the same time taking the total death toll in the district to 4302. Thane Municipal Corporation individually recorded a highest single-day spike of 429 new cases taking the total tally of infected persons to 34,808. 961 people have died due to the infection so far. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation under Thane district recorded 397 new cases with three deaths taking the total tally of infected persons and death toll to 34896 and 725 respectively.

Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation saw 338 new cases with six death cases taking the total tally of infected persons to 40,750 and casualties to 801. Similarly, Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation reported 168 new cases with five deaths which takes the total tally of infected persons in the area to 17495 and deaths to 540. Besides, Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation reported 29 new cases which take the total tally to 4889. Ulhasnagar witnessed 24 new cases with 2 deaths which takes the total tally of infected persons in the area to 8913 and deaths to 284. Finally, Ambernath and Badlapur recorded 48 cases each which take their total tally to 6040 and 5837 respectively.

In Kolhapur district of Maharashtra administration says, those not wearing masks should not be allowed to enter office premises & shops. With doctors and experts from the medical field stressing on wearing a mask to protect oneself from Covid-19, the Kolhapur district administration in Maharashtra has gone a step further and said that those who are not wearing masks should not be allowed to enter office premises and shops. It was reported that the Kolhapur district collector, Daulat Desai is for all praises from Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray after he made wearing mask mandatory for people while gaining access into the offices and also while entering shops to purchase goods.

The CM opined that the initiative should be implemented across the state which would help in breaking the chain of the virus. Chief Minister Thackeray has also censured those who do not wear a mask and go out in public. He said such careless attitude by some individuals is resulting in the rise of viral infection. It has come to notice that some people are following the norms, and people are entering the shops only if the owners and his employees are wearing masks. Simultaneously, those people who are found not wearing the mask are not allowed inside the shops. Besides, the administration is also resorting to seal the shop for eight days of owners who are found not wearing masks.
