CM Uddhav Thackeray warns of strict measures due to surge in Covid-19 cases

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that in order to contain rising covid cases, strict restrictions will be announced in a few days. Various festivals, celebrations will be prohibited in order to avoid crowding. He clarified that the lockdown is not the solution but necessary decisions will be taken to save the lives of citizens.

Maharashtra’s coronavirus tally recorded a surge of 47,827 new cases yesterday. According to the state’s public health department, 24,126 patients were discharged post-recovery while 202 others succumbed to the infection. But some districts are able to contain the infection more than others.

According to reports that in many districts of Maharashtra a record number of cases are registered on a daily basis. Active cases have crossed the previous highs registered in the month of September-October 2020. But Kolhapur district can be said to be able to contain the spread of infection this time.

Yesterday 164 patients registered in the district out of which 54 are in the city. It has less than a thousand active cases and new cases are also low as compared to other districts. Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Gadchiroli also have less than a thousand active cases.

Last Month due to a sudden rise in new cases Health Ministry has to send a special team for Akola and Amaravati district. But now the situation in these areas can be said to be controlled.

At the suggestion of the central team, various measures are taken in these areas. As a result of this, Cases in Amaravati city are reduced to 1/10th of last month's high.
