Jharkhand is battling the pandemic with the help of ICMR, as they carry out blood sample checks at the hotspots

In its fight against COVID -19, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti,New Delhi and Lupin Human Welfare Association, Rajasthan on May 29, 2020 sent 200 PPE Kits, 50 Thermometer, 10,000 PCS NITRILE GLOVES, 11000 masks and 500 FACE Shields to tribal district Khunti, Jharkhand free of cost for use by the District Administration.

This consignment was flagged off by Shri N N Sinha, IAS, Secretary Rural Development Government of India today at KrishiBhawan. Shri Dipanker Gyan, Director GSDS and Shri Sita Ram Gupta, CEO Lupin Human Welfare Organisation were also present at the flagging off ceremony.

The GSDS and Lupin together have been regularly supplying masks and above noted materials free of cost to different organisations, government departments and to poor and needy people free of cost since the breakdown of the pandemic COVID-19.

GSDS’ Srijan centre in Delhi, and other Srijan Training-Cum-Production Centres which have been established in several parts of the country as part of the 150thbirth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi had been producing safety masks free of cost distribution. Regular supplies of these masks are being made to different departments.

Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, a 20-member team from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi reached Pakur district today to collect blood samples from people belonging to urban and rural background to test the immunity level in human body. The team collected blood samples of more than 400 people of 10 different villages of the district.

 Project Technical Officer of ICMR Jairam Mishra said that Pakur district has been identified by ICMR and these samples are being collected to test the immunity levels in people coming from rural backgrounds. The collected samples will be sent to New Delhi for serum tests and certify the immunity levels against fighting COVID-19. The recovery rate in people of Jharkhand has remained better from other states and asymptomatic patients of COVID-19 are also recovering within a span of four to five days.

Samples of each person of 40 different households of each village were collected of further testing. Medical teams of the district and in charge of Community Health Centre worked together for collecting samples.

According to latest news, the total count of cases detected in the state has now surged to 409. Out of 24 districts of the state, Sahibganj is the only district left in Green Zone, while all other districts have shifted to Orange Zone. After detection of first Corona positive case from Khunti district yesterday, infection has spread across 23 districts of the state.

The infection rate in the state continues to remain high among youths aged between 11 and 30 years of age group. Fifty four per cent of the total number of cases reported are from this age-group. Meanwhile, the cases reported among youth are asymptomatic in nature, there has been no death reported in the COVID-19 cases pertaining to this age group.

Presently, there are 235 active cases in the state and 170 people have been discharged after treatment. Four people in the age-group of 51 to 70 years have succumbed to death due to COVID-19.
