Delhi takes extreme measures to beat the pandemic

Delhi Government has instructed its Public Works Department to install CCTV cameras in COVID-19 wards of all its Corona virus designated hospitals. The order came soon after Home Minister Amit Shah directed Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Dev to install CCTV cameras in COVID wards of every designated hospital in the national capital for proper monitoring of services and ensuring patients' issues are resolved. It said, PWD will install CCTV cameras in all COVID wards within 24 hours and submit a compliance report.

After paying a surprise visit to LNJP hospital yesterday, the Home Minister also suggested psychosocial counselling of doctors and nurses engaged in the fight against COVID.

Yesterday, Delhi Government  withdrew its order mandating all nursing homes in the city with bed strength between 10 and 49 as COVID-19 nursing homes. The city government had on Saturday declared all nursing homes in Delhi having bed capacity of 10 to 49 as Covid nursing homes. Delhi government had also asked all such nursing homes to make their Covid beds functional within three days of the issue of order. Only standalone exclusives Eye Centres, ENT Centers, Dialysis Centres, Maternity Homes and IVF Centres had been exempted as per the earlier order.

Delhi government had taken this decision to avoid intermingling of Covid and Non Covid patients in small and medium multispecialty nursing homes and to increase the bed capacity for Covid-19 patients. Cases of coronavirus are increasing in Delhi in a rapid manner.

Yesterday Delhi government announced that, to tackle the shortage of beds, the Anand Vihar railway station in East Delhi will stop operation of trains from Monday as COVID-19 isolation coaches will be deployed at it, officials informed.

All trains from Anand Vihar have been moved to Old Delhi Railway Station

The development comes after Union Home Minister Amit Shah earlier on Sunday announced that Centre will provide 500 railway coaches to Delhi in view of the shortage of beds for COVID-19 patients.

"In view of shortage of beds for coronavirus infected patients in Delhi, the Modi government at the Center has decided to immediately give 500 railway coaches to Delhi," Shah said during a meeting with Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and L-G Anil Baijal .
