Happiness lies in good health, study supports

Health is happiness. If you are healthy, you are happy. A healthy body reciprocates happiness in life and this fact, research also supports. Let’s take a look at what we can do to remain healthy and thus happy.

We all are living a stressful life. Undoubtedly stress is the major cause of mortality across the world. Being mentally stressed can lead to various health issues like diabetes and CVD. To live happily, it is important to stay healthy and stress-free in all circumstances.

According to a study published in the Biomedical Journal of Scientific and Technical Research, people who suffer high rates of anxiety often neglect their physical health. This stress and tension lead to low blood pressure further leading to weight loss and increasing the likelihood of developing depression and anxiety. Another study supports the fact that students need not just concentrate on academics, they should have social life also. Students should socialize, they should also emphasize the wellness part too.  

For the study, the researchers rated 925 students on four pointers of psychological well-being, hope, gratitude, life satisfaction and subjective happiness. To assess physical and mental health, the researchers asked the students various questions related to their sleep quality and how often they feel healthy, energized, worthless, fidgety, anxious, and depressed. The results showed that the students with a positive outlook on their career had a normal body weight that further contributed to good health.

Things you can do to remain healthy and happy 

Good fats – Saturated and trans-fat are very unhealthy for the body; they should be fully restricted or limited. On the other hand, unsaturated fatty acids contain elements that help lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and raise good cholesterol (HDL).

Proteins – These are very important in the formation of cells and tissues. It is useful in the information and repair management of cells and tissues of the body. Some good sources of protein are eggs, lean meats, nuts, lentils, dairy, beans, etc.

Nuts are the real source of energy (proteins and healthy fats) – Nuts are rich in unsaturated good fats. Walnuts, almonds, and peanuts are high in fiber, fiber keeps you full for a longer time and thus aids in weight loss. It also helps in digestion. They provide the daily dose of important nutrients that a body needs. 

Seeds, source of daily essential nutrients – Consuming a small number of chia seeds can fulfill your recommended daily requirement of fiber and calcium, magnesium, iron, and antioxidants. Flaxseeds are full of omega-3 fatty acids and pumpkin seeds are rich in micronutrients like zinc, copper, selenium, etc. 

Physical workout - Daily physical workout for 30 minutes is a must.
