This year the karwachauth is being observed on 13th October. Karwachauth also known as Karak Chaturthi is the fourth day of the moon’s waning phase in the month of Kartik. On this day, mostly Hindu women of Northern and Western India observe nirjala fast from sunrise to moonrise, dress up festively, apply henna on their hands, do their puja, and break the fast upon seeing the moon. Women fasts for their spouse’s long life and good health. They start their day after having sargi in the pre-dawn hours and then not having anything till moonrise, not even water. The fast can get hectic for pregnant, sick, and elderly women, hence they are advised not to observe it.

After fasting the full day long, women might feel to eat whatever comes their way but this can put them in trouble. They must be careful about their food choices as it can affect their digestive health. Here are some ideas that they can give a try.
