When the air pollution levels in Delhi hit dangerous levels, the government used some innovative ways to beat the problem.

With the tag of being a city where breathing easy is the most difficult thing to do, Delhi has tried out some innovative ways to beat the pollution recently when the pollution levels were at its most dangerous recently. Have a look.

Citizens could head to ‘Oxygen Bar’ where they could get 15 minutes of pure oxygen rich air for Rs. 500. To add to the delight, the air was offered in seven different flavours, including lemongrass, lavender, cinnamon and spearmint.

The city government installed anti-smoking gun in several parts of the city. It ejected fine droplets of water at high speeds to flush out the pollutants. The gun was capable of blasting up to 100 litres of water per minute.

Roadside purifiers were also tried out at busy intersections in Delhi. These were giant air purifiers to combat dust and vehicular smoke. The Supreme Court had also ordered to install Smoke Towers like in China which acted as giant vacuum cleaners.

Curtained bus stops, was another idea that Delhi government tried out. Several bus stops were curtained with thick plastic sheets, creating what was termed a fresh air chamber.
