This disorder occurs mostly in elderly people, but it can also affect younger people. Actually, Parkinson's disease affects those cells, which affect the movement of the body (motor function). Due to this reason, the person starts having difficulty doing normal physical movements. Parkinson's affects both men and women equally, however, it is seen more in women than men in India.

Symptoms of Parkinson's disease

Tremor (or twitching), stiffness, and slow movement of body parts are the main symptoms of Parkinson's disease and are also called motor symptoms. In addition to motor symptoms, some other symptoms can also develop from Parkinson's disease, such as the inability to maintain a straight body posture, speaking in a low voice, difficulty in passing urine and not being able to sleep at night, etc. There is also a feature of Parkinson's disease that the symptoms experienced by the person suffering from it change daily and sometimes their symptoms change every hour. There are also some symptoms of Parkinson's disease, which depend on the health of every person, and other diseases he has, such as -

  • Constipation
  • Skin sensitivity and pain
  • Difficulty speaking and swallowing
  • Feeling tired
  • Depression and other mental problems

Parkinson's disease diagnosis

There are no specific tests available to diagnose Parkinson's disease. However, there are several tests that can help diagnose neurological diseases such as Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease is diagnosed by neurologists, who begin diagnosing the disease based on the symptoms the patient feels and other physical tests. If the patient thinks that the person has Parkinson's disease, then certain types of imaging tests and other tests may be done to confirm the condition.
