The European Union is to set up 15 billion euros ($16.4 billion) to enable poor nations to battle the coronavirus pandemic, the alliance's boss reported on Tuesday.

European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen said the cash would assist nations with feeble social insurance frameworks to handle the effect of COVID-19 and help their long haul monetary recuperation.
