The hospital is earning Rs. 2.5 crore a month saving it from financial crisis.

The move of offering services to the patients under Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka (ABAK) seems to have paid rich dividends to Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) hospitals considered to be one of the state’s premier medical institution and one of the oldest one too.

Until a few months ago, the institution was facing a dire financial crunch. But the introduction of the scheme has revived its fortunes as the institution now earns Rs. 2.5 crore a month, and is now out of the red. The rolling out of the scheme could not have come at a more opportune time as KIMS now performs nearly 1500 procedures every month.

The hospital with a 1,500 bed capacity, and an extensive outpatient facilities, was struggling to meet its operational cost from the annual budget of Rs. 130 crore.

The hospital is equipped with all the necessary facilities to treat disorders and diseases mentioned under ABAK list. Around 300 to 400 every month are being treated here under ABAK category.
