Latest COVID-19 news update of North-east states

In Mizoram, 36 patients recovered from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. With one case detected in the same period, the total number of cases has reached 918 in the state. So far 459 patients have been discharged after recovery while 459 patients are presently undergoing treatment. The state government has issued an order to allow the inter-state movement only thrice a week from today. The order said that Lengpui airport and two entry points- at Kanhmun on the Mizoram-Tripura border and Vairengte on the Mizoram-Assam border will be open only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for flight and transport passengers starting from today until further order. The state has sealed international and inter-state borders barring a few entry points in March. However, the Lengpui airport and inter-state border at Vairengte and Kanhmun were opened for movement of people since June.

In Meghalaya, one COVID-19 patient expired yesterday taking the total number of fatalities to eight while 106 new COVID-19 cases were registered. Director of Health Services, Dr Aman War said out of the new 106 new COVID-19 cases, 64 were from East Khasi Hills district which includes 26 Armed Force personnel and 38 civilians. Three each from East Jaintia and Ri-Bhoi district, 16 from West Khasi Hills district, nine from West Garo Hills district which includes three Armed Force personnel and six civilians, ten Armed Force personnel from South Garo Hills district and one from North Garo Hills district. Seven COVID 19 patients also recovered today. So far the total number of recoveries stands at 776. With a total of 1,133 active cases, 776 recovered and eight deceased the total number of confirmed cases in Meghalaya stands at 1,917.

In Assam, nearly 71 thousand patients were discharged from hospitals so far following their recoveries in the state. Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that three thousand 259 persons were discharged during the last 24 hours. On the other hand, one thousand 272 positive cases were reported during the last 24 hours. Presently, there are 19 thousand 595 active cases in the state. Yesterday over 400 persons have donated plasma in the State. Mission Director of National Health Mission Dr Lakshmanan S said that nearly 500 units of plasma have been administered so far. He said that there are 5 centres in Assam where plasma can be donated. A recovered person can donate plasma after 28 days with certain conditions. Over 67,000 persons have been cured so far in the State. Dr Lakshmanan said that ICMR has conducted sero survey in the State and its report is likely to come after 2 to 3 weeks. He said that a third party sero survey has started from today in Guwahati which would also cover 7 more districts. 

Nagaland reported 51 new cases of COVID-19 positive yesterday, taing the total cases in the State to 3,686. State Health and Family Welfare informed that the new cases were detected among 28 Armed Forces, 14 Traced contacts, 6 frontline workers and 3 were returnees from other States. In addition, 128 people have also recovered from the infection today. With this, the total active cases in the State is at 1,376 while 2,294 people have recovered. So far, 8 have lost their lives due to COVID.
