If you follow these tips, you can add up to 10 disease-free years to your life.

At 50 years begins a whole new journey of life. While you cannot change the way you live or bring about drastic changes to your lifestyle, sticking to these five healthy habits can definitely do you more good in the long run, adding 10 years of disease free years to yuir lifespan.

While many studies in the past have highlighted the role of healthy lifestyle in improving overall life expectancy and reduction of chronic disease risk, the Harvard T H Chan School of Public Health study assumes significance as it looks at how combination of lifestyle factors may relate to life expectancy free form diseases such as cancer, heart and Type 2 diabetes.

The study suggests that inculcating five healthy habits in your daily routine, can improve your happiness quotient to a great extent. No smoking, healthy and balanced diet, 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity every day, body mass index between 18.5 and 24.9, and no more alcohol than a small glass of wine a day for women and a pint of beer for men.

Maintaining four out of these five habits will certainly add 10 more years of disease-free years to your life, says study.
