Milk is the most common food across the globe. It can rightly be termed as the global food. June 1st was established by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in the year 2001 as the World Milk Day. It was an initiative to acknowledge the efforts of the dairy farmers. In the context of India, Operation flood of 1970 has been the largest dairy development program of the country which made it the largest milk producer of the world. India started being viewed as the champion in this sector. There has been an upsurge in milk startups in India. Of late the craze of everything “organic” is high and the recent milk startups have made that their USP.

Urban Farms Milk is a startup that got established with a vision to deliver fresh cow’s A2 milk directly from a herd of Desi breed Gir cows that get delivered at the doorsteps in tamper proof bottles. The organization takes great care of cows as it believes that happy cows produce better, healthier & wholesome milk. Using only best-in-class technology and a desi breed of animals suited to Indian conditions, the vision is to produce natural fresh, pure A2 milk fulfilling international standards and guaranteeing the highest level of quality and purity. The organization’s aim is to revolutionize the milk industry in India by providing a high-quality, hygienic and nutritious product as well as professional service to as many homes as possible. Matratva Farms (Goratna Products Pvt. Ltd) began its operations in the year 2015 with the mission to save Indian cow breeds and serve the society with the best, most nutritious, chemical free, organic milk and help people live healthy lifestyles. Milk in this farm is sourced from indigenous cow breeds. By following the traditional methods, the least number of machines are used and the cows are milked the traditional way. The startup is based in Ajmer (Rajasthan). The products are A2 milk and its derivatives like ghee, butter, sweets, and buttermilk. Apart from that there are other natural products like raw natural honey (9 naturally flavoured honey), cold pressed oil (organic groundnut, mustard and sesame), desi khand (non sulphur treated sugar - brown sugar), moringa powder (herbs) and nutritional snacks.

Happy Milk has been started by a team of extremely passionate and experienced individuals who aim to bring the most fresh, untouched and organic milk to the market. The farm is located at Tumkur with more than 400 cows and the corporate office is in Bengaluru. The startup has partnered with German tech partner GEA and Israeli consultants which has helped it in achieving international standards in terms of quality of the milk and the cow’s health. The farm owners ensure a stress free and green environment for the cows in the farm.

Milk Mantra was founded in the year 2009 with the vision of creating an exciting, pure and healthy dairy products brand. The goal was also to create sustainable impact amongst network farmers - especially in Odisha. The corporate office of Milk Mantra is in Bhubaneswar and factories are in Gop, Sambalpur and Ranchi. Milky Moo is the startup’s flagship brand of dairy products.
