Mindfulness is mentally present at the moment, living the moment, aware of the current situation. Here are some tips on how to be mindful to reduce stress levels and boost your mental wellbeing

Mindfulness is paying close attention to the present moment. Being mindful means being totally aware of the current situation, mentally present at the moment, living the moment. While practicing mindfulness, you specifically pay attention to what you are doing such as reading a book, having a meal, watching TV.

Mindfulness also means observing your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging whether they are good or bad. When you practice mindfulness, you experience moment-to-moment awareness regarding your thoughts, emotions, and sentiments. Through mindfulness, you will be more awake for your daily experience and will not just live.

Benefits of mindfulness

Practicing mindfulness can reduce stress, feelings of anxiety and depression, and improve one's overall mental wellbeing. Many of us have poor physical health. Practicing mindfulness can improve our body’s physiological functions by decreasing stress, inducing better sleep and leading a better-quality life.

Practicing mindfulness can help you achieve a relaxed body and mind. Mindfulness teaches you to fully live the moment, to be mentally present, and to be totally aware of the surroundings and activities you are totally engaged in like a simple act of breathing.

How to be mindful

1. Try to practice mindfulness in a silent place with no shor sharaba, it can be indoor as well outdoor.

2. Choose a comfortable position – You can either sit or stand.

3. You can practice this sitting on a bed or couch too. Not necessary to be always cross-legged.

4. Feel your body, your hands, and your feet.

5. Take a deep breath and observe yourself while inhaling and exhaling. Try to find yourself, identify yourself.

6. Don’t be too harsh on yourself if you are unable to focus. It is natural for your mind to wander. Be calm and try again to focus your breathing. You will definitely find your inner peace.
