New Parkinson's Support Group Centre Opens in Navi Mumbai: Free Exercise and Information Sessions

The support group sessions will take place every Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The venue for these beneficial sessions is the Neuro Physiotherapy OPD, which is conveniently located on the 3rd floor of Dr. D.Y. Patil Hospital, Ayyappa Road, Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyanagar, Sector 5, Nerul.

In a significant development, the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society (PDMDS) has partnered with D. Y. Patil University to introduce a dedicated Parkinson's Support Group centre in Nerul, Navi Mumbai. This new initiative is designed to offer assistance and support to individuals dealing with Parkinson's disease, along with their caregivers.

Parkinson's Disease is a chronic, degenerative disorder that primarily affects the motor system. It occurs when certain nerve cells (neurons) in the brain gradually break down or die, leading to a decrease in dopamine levels. Dopamine is a chemical messenger responsible for transmitting signals that coordinate movement. As dopamine levels decline, individuals experience difficulties in controlling their body movements.

The primary objective of this program is to provide valuable resources and guidance to help manage Parkinson's symptoms effectively. The support group will conduct free weekly exercise sessions, along with informative discussions on Parkinson's management. These sessions are intended to empower participants with the tools they need to improve their quality of life.

Starting from August 11, participants can look forward to engaging in exercise routines tailored to their needs. These exercises are specially designed to address the specific challenges posed by Parkinson's disease. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to gain essential insights into symptom management and receive guidance on enhancing their overall well-being.

These sessions are not only for individuals dealing with Parkinson's disease but also extend a helping hand to caregivers. Tailored sessions will provide caregivers with the information and tools they need to provide optimal care and support to their loved ones.

In a world where access to quality healthcare and support is crucial, the opening of the Parkinson's Support Group centre in Navi Mumbai is a welcome development. By combining exercise, information, and a supportive community, this initiative aims to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by Parkinson's disease.

As we look ahead to the launch of these support group sessions, individuals dealing with Parkinson's and their caregivers can mark their calendars for an empowering and informative experience. Join the sessions every Friday to embark on a journey towards better management of Parkinson's symptoms and improved well-being.
