Will Niramai be able to reduce breast cancer deaths worldwide with its innovative AI-based solution? Will Niramai be able to reduce breast cancer deaths worldwide with its innovative AI-based solution?

Do you know breast cancer is the main cause of death from cancer in women?

WHO predicts that 1 in every 12 women are at the risk of developing breast cancer. Breast cancer has also been the biggest cause of cancer deaths in Indian women. An estimated 1.79 lakh women suffer from it. In 2013, Geetha Manjunath was working in an MNC which used artificial intelligence and analytics in the healthcare sector. There she learned how thermal imaging could be used for breast cancer detection.

Three years later and she went into talks with Xerox to use their technology to kick off her own venture. She was successful and then in 2017, she started Niramai. Niramai created a cancer screening tool that is low-cost and portable. The device works on women of all ages and is radiation-free, no-touch required and painless. It works on women of all ages.

Their solution is already being used in Apollo Clinics, HCG Hospital and HealthSpring Diagnostics. Their tool, Thermalytix™, has even received CE mark approval, enabling it to enter the European Economic Area. Thermalytix™ uses AI, ML and big data analytics to detect the anomaly. They are also looking to enter other important markets like Africa and Asia. They have been in talks to collaborate with radiologists from the National Health Service (NHS).

To date, they have raised $7 million from multiple investors like Pi Ventures, BEENEXT, Dream Incubator and Axilor Ventures. In 2017, they received $50,000 from Google Launchpad Accelerator. Niramai has received numerous awards like Frost and Sullivan Award and the Gold prize in Hack Osaka. They have also been granted 10 patents from the USA, 3 from India, and more from both China and Singapore. Will Niramai be able to reduce breast cancer deaths worldwide with its innovative AI-based solution?
