Thrive on the Taste of Therapeutic Raw Turmeric

▴ Thrive on the Taste of Therapeutic Raw Turmeric
When we talk of Turmeric, the instant image that comes to our mind is the powdered form of Haldi that has many beneficial properties as far as our health is concerned. However, when we talk about Raw Turmeric or Kachchi Haldi there are few homes that make it a part of one’s regular diet.

Turmeric and India have a strong connection. No matter which state we reside in, turmeric is one of the most significant spices which is not just used in the majority of foods that we cook but also considered very auspicious in religious and other significant occasions like weddings. There would hardly be any household in India that does not have turmeric in the kitchen. In fact, just as salt-and-pepper is a popular term in western cultures, we use namak-haldi together in our colloquial languages. However, pepper goes well with fresh turmeric as well because there is a molecule called curcumin present in raw turmeric and pepper helps in better absorption of curcumin in our bodies.

Raw turmeric has immense health benefits. It is anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and is loaded with curcumin which has a therapeutic effect on people consuming it. Some of the benefits of raw turmeric are:

1.Boosts Skin health

2.Helpful in Digestion

3.Relief from irritable bowel syndrome

4.Relief from heartburn

5.Relief from stomach ulcers

6.Relief from inflammation in different body parts

7.Helps in healing of cuts and injuries

8.Purifies blood

9.Controls blood sugar levels

10.Relieves Pain

People often wonder how to consume it. Raw and fresh turmeric tastes different from the dried and powdered form of it that is commonly available in our homes. Raw turmeric has a stronger flavor and you can consume it in the following ways:

1.Make a paste to apply on skin to enhance its beauty or apply it on cuts

2.Mix turmeric paste to milk to get relief from stomach ailments or body pains

3.You can add raw turmeric paste to curries

4.Grate raw turmeric, mix with pepper, and eat raw. Grated turmeric can also be used during the cooking of curries or when you are boiling water for tea

5.Take out its juice and add in a variety of things like green tea or juices like ginger juice

6.You can consume paste or grated form of raw turmeric with honey as well

7.If you are preparing boiled rice, you can add grated turmeric for the beautiful color of the rice

8.You can make turmeric halwa which is particularly beneficial in winters to keep cough and cold and joint pains at bay.

Since the color of raw turmeric is very strong, your fingers will turn into a hue of beautiful yellow or orange while you are grating or chopping it. Rub your hands with lemon to get rid of the hue. Raw turmeric is not readily available in markets. Whenever you catch hold of it, purchase some grams of it and do experiments with your meals to stay healthy.
