All you need to know about PCOS

Dr. Rani Gupta says, “PCOS is well listed in ayurvedic gynecology. There are many symptoms of PCOS listed in Ayurveda. The incidences of PCOS are increasing. The main symptom of PCOS is -

Amenorrhoea  Obesity  Weight gain  Hirsutism

In terms of ayurvedic perspective, the pathology and treatment of PCOS match with the “Pusphagini” symptom of Ayurveda. Ayurveda has basics from Sanskrit and has Indian Background. In PCOS patients, women have irregular periods."

Ayurvedic treatment for PCOS

Dr. Rani Gupta informs, ‘PCOS treatment in Ayurveda does not treat the cyst but treats the root cause of the problem. In Ayurveda, we treat the reason behind the formation of cysts. Ayurveda has three doshas- Vatta, Pitta, and Kapha. There is a delicate of all the three doshas in the body. When this balance is maintained, then we are healthy. When this balance is disrupted, then it causes disease and imbalances. In, PCOS, there is an imbalance of Kapha, Pitta disorder. In PCOS, Kapha is predominant. This causes an imbalance of Kapha which blocks and obstructs the channels of the body. There is an interruptive movement of the Vatta in the pelvic area. There is a lot of imbalances in the reproductive area causing hormonal imbalance and ovarian dysfunction. This causes PCOS. We treat Kapha and pitta in obese PCOS.

While in lean PCOS, with heavy cycles, it has a more prominent Vata imbalance. Based on the body type and Prakriti, Ayurveda medicines are given. Ayurveda has tailor-made treatment for all individuals. This is the beauty of Ayurveda where you decide whichever treatment is suitable for that particular person."

Ayurveda is effective for PCOS

Dr. Rani Gupta states, “Kapha is a body dosha which has a tendency to cause weak metabolism and weight gain due to sedentary lifestyle and wrong food habits. A prolonged sedentary lifestyle causes weakness of the digestive system. There is a need to get Kapha in balance with -

Panchkarma Therapies Detoxification  Ayurvedic medicines

In the case of pitta-influenced lean PCOS, may show menorrhagia symptoms which are done through panchakarma which is induced purgation with herbal medicines. These ayurvedic protocols treat the root cause which is the principle of ayurvedic treatment."

PCOS be cured permanently by Ayurveda

Dr. Rani Gupta informs, “Ayurveda has customized treatments based on lifestyle and history. Many people during the covid pandemic consumed herbs and kadha. Taking ayurvedic treatment without professional guidance can cause side effects. Ayurveda is a principle-based treatment and not just home remedies.”
