What causes cholesterol to be high apart from wrong eating habits ?

There are many reasons apart from wrong eating habits that are responsible for increased cholesterol level. However simple lifestyle modification can very much help in reducing increased cholesterol

When your body’s cholesterol level increases too much, your risk of fatal diseases like heart attack, cardiac arrest, heart failure, and stroke also increases. With the rise in bad cholesterol in the body, clots start accumulating in the arteries that hinders blood circulation to all parts of the body. Often people think that cholesterol increases due to wrong eating habits, but many other reasons are responsible for its rise. Let’s find out other reasons for it.

Obesity – Obesity also gives rise to increased cholesterol. If a person's weight is increasing continuously, then good cholesterol starts decreasing in the body. Good cholesterol prevents bad cholesterol from rising. If the amount of good cholesterol decreases in your body, then your weight starts increasing gradually. This increases the risk of hypertension, heart attack, type 2 diabetes, stroke kind of diseases.

Not doing exercise - People who just keep sitting throughout the day, not doing exercise at all, may face physical health-related problems. According to research, a person should exercise at least 150 minutes a week. This keeps your body healthy and you stay fit also.

Stress - The more you are stressed, the high cholesterol builds up in your body. There are high chances of brain stroke because of stress. So if you are under stress then doing exercise, yogasan and Dhyan are effective in reducing stress.

Addiction - Intoxication is very harmful in increasing cholesterol and heart disease in the body. Alcohol addiction also has a bad effect on cholesterol. The worst addiction is that of smoking, which can make you a victim of many deadly diseases.

Family history – If any of your family members was having a history of cholesterol then the chances of getting you also increases. Apart from this, heart attack is also a problem that transfers from one generation to another. If there is any such disorder with your family members, then at the age of 20, see a cardiologist and take proper consultations to lower cholesterol, so that you can save the life from these deadly diseases in time.

Increase physical activity.

Try yoga poses

Quit smoking

Lose weight

Eat healthy foods – saturated and trans fat should be reduced and foods rich in soluble fibers and omega 3 fatty acids should be taken.
