World Rose Day 2022 – A ray of hope is all they (cancer patients) need

Fighting cancer is not an easy task. It’s a tough battle. People fighting this deadly disease are often called warriors. World Rose Day is observed to encourage, support, and give hope to such cancer patients so that they can emerge victorious in their battle against cancer.

Fighting cancer is not an easy task. It’s a tough battle. Patients undergoing numerous chemotherapies, radiations, and surgery requires immense strength. The treatment procedures impact negatively on a patient's mental and physical health. And this is why people fighting this deadly disease are often called warriors.

World Rose Day is celebrated every year on the 22nd of September to support cancer patients and give them hope of survival. The day aims to encourage and support those people who are fighting their battle against cancer. The day aims to bring happiness and hope into the lives of such patients who have immense strength and determination for fighting against their life odds like a pro.

On World Rose Day, people offer roses, cards, and gifts to cancer patients and their caregivers, who also play an important role in this difficult journey. The journey breaks you from within if you don’t have strong willpower. Thus, days like World Rose Day are celebrated to give inner strength and motivation to keep moving forward.

World Rose Day was first observed in honor of 12-year-old cancer patient Melinda Rose from Canada, who died in 1996. According to reports, Rose was diagnosed with Askin’s Tumour, a rare form of blood cancer. While doctors had said that she would only live for a few weeks, Melinda Rose went on to live for over three years. The doctors had said that she has only six weeks more to live but instead of mourning over it, she decided to enjoy the last moments of her life with full joy and enthusiasm.

Let’s take a look at those Indian celebrities who battled this deadly disease and came out as a winner.

Manisha Koirala – She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012 and successfully completed all the treatments. Now she is living a cancer-free life.

Yuvraj Singh – Cricketer Yuvraj Singh was diagnosed with lung cancer and got cured.

Sonali Bendre – She was diagnosed with metastatic cancer and is now fully recovered.
