33 fresh Covid-19 cases push Assam's total infection count to 2,868

Assam reported 33 new COVID-19 cases while Tripura registered its first virus-related death.

On Tuesday, Assam reported 33 new positive cases of coronavirus and one death that took the state's death toll to five and the total tally to 2,868.
A 58-year-old man belonging to the Karbi Anglong district, had returned from Chennai on May 26. He was under institutional quarantine and succumbed to the infection on Monday night.

Of the new 17 new cases that have been reported from Tinsukia district, 4 are from Jorhat, 3 from Barpeta, 2 each from Chirang Karbi Anglong and Nagaon, and, 1 each from Baksa, Golaghat, and Majuli.

"33 new #COVID19+ cases reported. 17 Tinsukia, 4 Jorhat, 3 Barpeta, 2 Chirang, 2 Karbi Anglong, 2 Nagaon, 1 Baksa, 1 Golaghat, 1 Majuli. Total cases 2868." Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

On 8 June the state had registered 154 COVID-19 positive cases.
So far Assam has reported 2,868 positive cases of the novel coronavirus, out of which, 784 patients have been discharged from hospitals after full recovery. The state currently has 2,076 active COVID-19 cases.

Nagaland reported one new case of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking total confirmed cases to 128. Out of which, 118 are active cases and 10 patients have recovered. Health Minister S. Pangnyu Phom in a tweet this morning stated that out of 273 samples tested one new positive case from Kohima Quarantine center has been reported in the last 24 hours.

Tripura registered first COVID-19 related death in the state after a 42 years old male patient expired yesterday. Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath said the patient was admitted to Gobind Ballabh Pant hospital on June 1 and tested positive for the virus on June 3. Minister further informed that the patient had suffered a stroke (CVA) and was a patient of hypertension.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb sharing the unfortunate news on his tweet said that our doctors gave their best but could not save the patient's life. Meanwhile, at present the state has total of 867 COVID 19 positive patients with 670 active cases while 192 has been recovered so far.

Among the active cases, 52 are in West District, 85 in Gomati District, 24 in Khowai District, nine in North District, 344 in Sepahijala District, 72 in South District, 49 in Unakoti District and 35 in Dhalai District
