Educational institutes to reopen tomorrow in Assam

Educational institutes will reopen tomorrow in Assam. Classes will begin for 8th to 12th standard students from tomorrow following all COVID-19 protocols. Sanitation and cleaning works have been done ahead of the opening of educational institutes. Official sources said that 9th and 12th standard students will attend classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday while rest 3 days are reserved for 10th and 11th classes. For every class, a maximum of 20 students will be allowed to attend and classes will be held in 2 batches.

However, the students must carry the no-objection certificate of the guardians. Apart from that, only 50 per cent of teachers and non- teaching staffs can attend schools. A random test of students and teachers will also be done by the Health Department.

Manipur: Two died due to COVID-19 infection; death toll reaches 57
Two males died due to COVID-19 infection in the past twenty-four hours, thus increasing the Covid death toll to 57 in Manipur.
Meanwhile, 170 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the past twenty-four hours in Manipur while 44 people were discharged after recovery. So far Manipur has recorded total positive cases of 8894 and out of the 6767 have fully recovered. The number of active cases is 2070 in the state. The recovery rate is 76.08 per cent.

Nagaland: 59 tested positives for COVID-19 taking the total number of affected people to 5451

In Nagaland, 59 people today tested positive for COVID-19 taking the total number of affected people to 5451. Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom in a tweet informed that out of the new cases, 45 are from Dimapur and 14 from Kohima. He further added that the state also reported 78 recoveries today.

4228 people have recovered so far from the infection in the state. With this, the number of total active cases in the state has reached 1184. So far out of the total 15 deaths registered, 10 have died due to COVID-19, while 5 were not COVID related. 24 affected people have migrated to other states.

Sikkim govt imposes complete lockdown in Gangtok municipal area till Sept 27

In Sikkim, a complete lockdown will be in force in Gangtok municipal area from today till 27th September. The lockdown was announced on Saturday following a spike in COVID-19 cases in the state capital.

During the seven-day Gangtok municipal area lockdown, movement of passenger and private vehicles will be prohibited except those involved in medical and essential services. All commercial establishments except medical and ration shops will remain closed. State government offices will operate with 30 per cent attendance.

Following the lockdown, the state government has allowed free interstate movement of people without any registration from 1st October and resumption of tourism-related services from 10th October.

The health department will issue fresh COVID19 protocol for interstate movement beginning 1st October. The tourism department will also issue guidelines for tourism-related services.
