The Ministry of Home Affairs today said that the Central Government is taking concrete steps to contain the spread of rising Covid-19 cases in Delhi in the direction of the Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Home Affairs Ministry informed that 10 multi-disciplinary teams have started visiting the hospitals for assessing bed utilization and testing capacities.

It also informed that planning for a house to house survey in Delhi in the advanced stage and the survey is expected to begin by this weekend and projected to be completed by 25th of November of this month.
 
It said the Indian Council of Medical Research and the Delhi government are working together to enhance RT-PCR testing capacity to 60 thousand tests by the end of this month.

It informed that testing capacity has already enhanced by 10 thousand tests per day and 5 RT-PCR labs including at AIIMS, Delhi has already started functioning round the clock.
 

It said ICMR will help the Delhi government in deploying 10 mobile testing labs for COVID-19 with a total capacity of 20 thousand tests in a phased manner. ICMR will also help in augmenting capacity by two thousand tests of existing Delhi labs by deploying more manpower and equipment through engagement with private sector labs.
 
The Home Affairs Ministry said, Defence Research and Development Organization, DRDO will add more ICU beds in its Covid Hospital near Delhi Airport. It said DRDO will add 250 ICU beds to its already existing 250 ICU beds and also create 35 BIPAP beds in next 3 to 4 days. It said that 45 doctors and 160 paramedics from Central Armed Police Force, CAPF have reached Delhi for deployment at DRDO hospital and at COVID care centre situated at Chhatarpur. It added that remaining doctors and medics will reach Delhi in the next few days.

 
Ministry informed that Indian Railways is making available train coaches with 800 beds at Shakur Basti railway station and Doctors and paramedics from CAPFs will man these coaches as COVID care cum isolation facility.
 
Ministry said, 25 BIPAP machines for the Delhi government to be provided by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and 35 BIPAP machines to DRDO's COVID facility have already been provided.

It said, Bharat Electronics Limited has dispatched 250 ventilators from Bengaluru and it is expected to reach Delhi by this weekend. It said, an orientation meeting with the stakeholders held by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
 
Home Minister Amit Shah held the meeting on 15th November on Delhi's Covid-19 situation and gave directions to the concerned agencies to effectively tackle the rising cases in the capital.
