The total positive cases in the country today are six lakh 95 thousand 509 which comprises merely 8.96 per cent of the total reported cases.

India has leaped across a significant milestone in its fight against COVID. The active caseload of the country has fallen below seven lakh for the first time after nearly two months. The total positive cases in the country today are six lakh 95 thousand 509 which comprises merely 8.96 per cent of the total reported cases.

With a high number of COVID patients recovering every day along with a steadily falling and sustained low mortality rate, India’s trend of registering decreasing active cases continues. India is also reporting a high number of recoveries. The total recovered cases are nearly 70  lakhs and the difference between active cases and recovered cases is also consistently increasing. The recovered cases are nearly 10 times more than the active cases.

Nearly 74 thousand patients recovered and were discharged in the last 24 hours whereas the new confirmed cases reported in the same time span stood at nearly 54 thousand. The national recovery rate has further progressed to 89.53 per cent. Health Ministry said that enhanced countrywide medical infrastructure, implementation of the Centre’s Standard Treatment Protocol by the States and Union Territories and total dedication and commitment of doctors, paramedics and frontline workers have led to a persistent increase in the number of total recoveries in the country. It said, this has also led to a commensurate dip in the fatality rate which stands at 1.51 per cent. The Health Ministry informed that 690 case fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours of which nearly 81 per cent are concentrated in ten States and Union Territories.

The country also crossed a new peak of conducting more than ten crore COVID tests till date. During the last 24 hours, more than 14 lakh 42 thousand tests were conducted. Health Ministry said, India has come a long way from conducting just one test from the lab in Pune in January this year to crossing 10 crore one lakh tests.
