Twenty Eight CRPF personnel tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Around 28 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel posted in Kashmir have tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, officials said.

After the death of a 44-year-old constable on June 6 who succumbed to the disease, a contact-tracing exercise was conducted during which the personnel was found infected.

On Wednesday, twenty-eight personnel in Kashmir have tested positive for coronavirus, the officials said, adding that they belong to the 90th battalion of the force where the deceased constable, a nursing assistant, was posted.

All the affected personnel has been isolated and while some of the results are awaited, they said.

The troops have been asked to immediately report if they feel any illness or COVID-19 like symptoms, a senior official said.

A total of four deaths have occurred in the country's largest paramilitary force having 3.25 lakh personnel.

It has reported 516 coronavirus cases till now out of which 353 personnel have from the disease, as per latest data.

Seven other positive coronavirus cases also came forward from various other units of the force on Wednesday.

Also, on June 8, the Jammu and Kashmir Government evacuated about 1, 15,508 UT residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur through special trains and buses.

The administrations of Jammu and Kashmir districts have received 47 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, with about 36,846 stranded passengers.

About 78,662 people have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur.
So far, 26 trains have reached Jammu with a total of around 21,150 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while around 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains.

Meanwhile, on June 9, Himachal Pradesh, the number of Corona-infected patients has increased to 437. Eight fresh cases of Corona were reported in the state.

Reports said that eight samples have been found positive for COVID-19 which includes six from Kangra while one each from Mandi and Hamirpur district.

At present, one hundred 84 Corona positive patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals of the state.

Whereas two hundred 37 people have recovered after treatment.

Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu and about 30 other police officials have home-quarantined themselves, after coming in contact with a man who had tested positive for COVID-19 and died due to the disease in New Delhi.

The areas he visited were sanitized and sealed. However, DGP Sanjay Kundu has tested negative for Novel Corona
