CureSkin raised $5 million in its Series A round

Personal product-based healthcare startup CureSkin has raised $5 million in its Series A funding round led by JSW Ventures. Other participants of the round were Sharrp Ventures and SenseAI Ventures among others.

Operated by Heallo India LLP, the venture gives outcome-oriented specialised solutions for skin and hair. By using AI they analyse the user’s skin condition and then recommend a personalised care kit.

CureSkin was founded by Guna Kakulapati, Ramakrishna Rajanna and Charu Sharma in 2017. Dr Charu herself is a dermatologist. They realised that many are willing to splurge money on expensive shampoos and treatments but are not seeking the valuable advice of dermatologists.

Their products are data-driven and made with superior technology to suit Indian skin. Their app with its AI tech can detect and recommend products for FREE if one takes a photo and get it uploaded. The treatments are for acne, dark spots, pigmentation, wrinkles and other common skin disorders.

Previously, they had raised $500,000 led by SenseAI Ventures in the year 2020. The venture was part of the Google Launchpad Accelerator Programme 2019. It is estimated there is only 1 dermatologist for 1 lakh Indians. And most of these skin specialists reside in the metro areas. The venture also offers courses, under CureSkin Academy, that one can take to understand the fundamentals.
