Union Home Ministry has said that a door to door survey for COVID-19 in Delhi will be done first in containment zones on a priority basis by the 6th of July. The decision to extend the date has been taken as numbers of containment zones have increased to 435 in the city. The Ministry said this will be followed by door to door testing in the entire Delhi.

Yesterday,Mr Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Petroleum Minister said,Govt using resources for development of health & social infrastructures.Indian economy is going through challenging times and government is utilising the available resources for extending relief to people and sectors who are adversely affected due to the pandemic.

He cited Direct Benefit Transfers amounting to over 65 thousand crores into the accounts of farmers, Women Jan Dhan Account holders as honest measures initiated by the Narendra Modi government to help people amid these testing times.

Mr. Pradhan said the current government is not like Congress which transferred funds to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and to personal accounts to achieve self goals. He said, due to the COVID19 pandemic, the energy industry is going through a tough time.

He said demand for petrol went down by 70 to 80 percent in April-May months in the country which directly impacted the economy. The Minister said that now the demand is picking up again.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 4 PM today. The Prime Minister's Office said this in a tweet following the Home Ministry's announcement of Unlock 2 guidelines. This would be Prime Minister's sixth address to the nation since the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic. Mr. Modi had last addressed the nation on 12th May when he had announced a 20-lakh-crore rupee financial package to boost the economy recovering from coronavirus-induced lockdown. In his Mann Ki Baat address last Sunday, the Prime Minister had urged the people to be more vigilant in the Unlock phase and take more precautions.

According to the latest figures, Delhi has recorded 2,084 fresh cases of COVID-19 taking the infection tally in the city to 85,161. A total of 57 deaths have been reported in the national capital in the last 24 hours due to COVID-19. The number of active cases stands at 26,246 while 56,235 patients have recovered so far. As many as 16,329 patients are in home isolation. The number of containment zones in the city also jumped to 435. The Government today said a total of 3,21,723 people affected by Coronavirus have been cured in the country so far. In the past 24 hours, 12,010 people have recovered from Covid-19 and with this, the recovery rate has reached  58.67 percent. The Health and Family Welfare Ministry said a total of 19,459 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the country within 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 5,48,318.
