Smart-wearable for Diabetics, FeetWings has secured Rs 1.1 crore or around $148,000 in their seed funding led by SucSEED Innovation Fund. Other participants in the round were Friends of PadUp and Elina Capital.

FeetWings was founded in 2020 by two 3rd year students of Netaji Subhash University of Technology and an obesity specialist. The founders are Siddhant Bhargava, Hrithik Jaiswal and Animesh Kumar. The startup wanted to create a pain-free and affordable way of measuring blood sugar levels along with an alert system that warned about the associated ailments, like, foot ulceration and peripheral neuropathy.

Through its product Smart Socks, they can non-invasively measure the person's temperature and blood glucose. The Socks are made using a newfangled fabric which is as seamless as any ordinary wool or cotton cloth. The seed fund will be used to develop their product further and help them refine their algorithms.

As per WHO, currently, there are around 450 million cases of diabetes in the world, and the number could potentially reach 700 million by 2045. India is the 'Diabetes Capital of the World' with over 77 million Indians suffering from it. 70% of the Indians suffering from diabetes have to spend more than Rs 30,000 on top of deteriorating mental and physical health.
