Flu Shot For Children: Learn why the flu vaccine is important for children younger than 5 years old

Children are the most vulnerable in the winter season to cold and cough. Let us know how to take precautions this winter against the flu virus.

Flu Shot For Children:

The flu vaccine protects your children from contracting this disease. The role of this vaccine became even more important during the corona epidemic because now the risk of getting sick has increased much more. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, most people have paid less attention to other diseases and their treatment. People were trying to avoid covid-19 infection. But, this does not mean that you should ignore your other health problems.

As the threat of Covid-19 infection is not over yet and in such a situation, getting a vaccine to avoid falling ill or going to the hospital can be a good and important decision for anyone. It is important to understand that, in difficult times of pandemic, corona and influenza can harm your child's weak body.It becomes very important to give injections to children during epidemics.

Why is the flu vaccine necessary?

Flu or Influenza is a very contagious disease. It is a respiratory tract disease caused by the influenza A virus. The symptoms of flu and the symptoms of common cold and cough are similar and due to this people often misunderstand the flu as a common cold and cough. Although any person can get the flu, it can easily catch children under the age of 5. Therefore, give children the flu vaccine to increase their immunity against the flu disease.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, between 140,000 and 810,000 people are hospitalized every year because of the flu. In this case, the vaccine not only reduces the risk of flu infection, but it also reduces the chances of going to the hospital. Getting the vaccine will give more protection from the flu to people who are more likely to get sick. Similarly, children younger than 6 months have a lower risk of transmitting the flu.

When should you get the flu vaccine?

According to the CDC, a child should get the flu vaccine only after 6 months of birth. Similarly, till the age of 5 years, this vaccine must be given according to the advice of the doctor.

Keep these things in mind

Keep your child away from sick people. Ask children to wash their hands frequently to avoid illness. Prevent them from touching your eyes and mouth again and again. Leave the house with a mask on and ask children to wear a mask as long as they are in public places. Ask children to follow social distancing.
