Recovery rate of COVID-19 reaches to 72% in Gujarat

Despite the increase in recovery rate in Gujarat, the number of COVID-19 cases in the state is constantly going up

A Central team led by Lav Kumar Agarwal, Joint Secretary in Union Health Ministry has expressed satisfaction over the measures taken by Gujarat Government to contain Coronavirus during the unlock-one. A committee of Expert Group of Doctors constituted by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani apprised the Central team with the measures taken by the State government.

In a meeting with the Central team, the Expert Group of Doctors said that the recovery rate of the COVID-19 patients in the state has gone up to 72%. The Expert Group of Doctors also informed about the surveillance and clinical treatment of COVID-19 patients. 580 new cases have been reported in the state during the past 24 hours.

Our correspondent reports that despite the increase in recovery rate, the number of COVID-19 cases in the state is constantly increasing. With 580 new cases reported yesterday, the total cases of COVID-19 have gone up to 30158.

A maximum of 205 new cases reported from Ahmedabad city. 135 new cases reported from Surat, while 93 new cases reported from Vadodara. 18 patients have lost their lives during the last 24 hours, taking the total death due to COVID-19 in the state up to 1772.

Meanwhile, 532 patients have been discharged yesterday after the recovery, taking the total number of patients discharged till now to 22038. According to official sources, out of 6348 active cases in the state, conditions 61 patients are critical and they are on a ventilator. More than 3,51000 tests have been carried out in the state to date.

On the other news update, the Union Government today said that a total of 2,95,881 people affected with Coronavirus are cured in the country. During the past 24 hours, 10244 people have recovered from COVID-19 and the recovery rate reached to 58.13%. Presently, the total number of active corona cases in the country is 1,97,387.

Health and Family Welfare Ministry said, a total of 18,552 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country within 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 5,08,953. This is the highest spike in fresh cases since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in India. 384 deaths have been reported in a single day taking the nationwide toll to 15,685.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR said that a total of 2,20,479 tests of coronavirus samples were conducted by the various laboratories in the country within 24 hours. This is the highest number of tests conducted by the laboratories in the country since the outbreak of COVID-19 in India. So far, 79,96,707 tests have been conducted.

ICMR is continuously scaling up its testing facilities for COVID-19 by giving approval to government and private laboratories. As of now, total of 1026 laboratories across India have been given the approval to conduct the test for COVID-19 including 741 government laboratories and 285 private laboratories' chains.
