1,185 new COVID-19 cases were reported from Gujarat

Gujarat recorded 1,185 new Corona cases during the last 24 hours. The recovery rate has reached up to 88.22 per cent.  It was reported that total 1,37,870 patients recovered from COVID-19 till now. 1,329 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.

More than 52,16,000 tests have been carried out in the state till date. Maximum 249 new cases reported from Surat, while Ahmedabad recorded 186 new cases. At present total active cases in the state are 14,804, out of which 86 patients are on ventilator. 11 patients died yesterday taking the total deaths due to COVID-19 up to 3,609.

In the state, very few Cinema halls and multiplexes reopened yesterday as per the guidelines of the Govt.  In Ahmedabad  few more multiplexes are likely to reopen during the weekend or from next week. Union home ministry and State Government have given permission to multiplexes and cinema halls to resume operations- while adhering to strict guidelines.

However, very few theatres in Ahmedabad reopen yesterday under the ‘new normal’. The fear of pandemic, rising operating cost and no new releases are the main reasons for this cold response. However, some multiplexes are likely to reopen during the weekend or from next week with some superhit old movies.

After remaining completely closed for more than 6 months, the multiplex owners are also expecting some kind of relief from the government by waiving entertainment tax, GST and electricity duty to overcome the huge loss.
