Gujarat sees new high of 626 COVID-19 cases, total tally crosses 32K mark.
Recording 626 new coronavirus cases, the greatest number of positive cases so far, on Monday, Gujarat saw its total tally leap over the 32,000 mark to reach 32,023.
Monday was the third day in a line when more than 600 coronavirus cases were detected. And previous to that, for consecutive three days, the state had reported around 580 cases daily. With a mean 600 cases daily, the state has recorded around 3,600 new cases in just last six days.

Out of the new cases, Ahmedabad, which has seen its daily volume of cases reducing from around 300 plus daily to now 200 plus, accounted for 236.
Meanwhile, a higher number of cases are sprang up in Surat and in other cities and towns. Surat on Monday had the greatest number of positive cases detected so far, at 206, followed by Vadodara, which recorded 50 new cases.

An optimistic development has been that, for the past few days, the amount of deaths, which had been over 30 for almost the entire June, has now reduced to under 20. After the 18 deaths each over the last four days, Monday saw 19 fatalities. Out of these, Ahmedabad had nine, followed by Surat with four. Two from Surendranagar perished to the virus on Monday, and a patient each from Banaskantha, Rajkot, Kheda and Amreli also died.
With this, the death tally of the state has soared to 1,828.

As many as 789 people, out of the total, have surrendered to the virus during 29 days of June. Gujarat carries one of the highest mortality rate for COVID-19 in the country, at 5.70 per cent.

Ahmedabad leads with 20,736, come after by Surat with 4,630, Vadodara with 2,220, Gandhinagar with 638, Mehsana with 269, Rajkot with 263, Bhavnagar with 252, Bharuch with 210, Anand with 207, Aravali with 202, Patan and Jamnagar with 195 each, Banaskantha with 177, Panchmahals and Sabarkantha with 170 each, Kheda with 152, Kutch with 150, Surendranagar with 138, Mahisagar with 135 and Valsad with 130.
The health authorities carried out 4,433 RT-PCR tests, on Monday, increasing the total to 3,67,739 RT-PCR tests in Gujarat. A total of 440 patients were released, taking the total to 23,248.

There are a total of 6,947 active cases, out of which the situation of 6,884 is stable, while 63 critical patients are still on ventilator. There are 2,39,759 people quarantined - 2,36,384 at home and 3,375 in government establishments.
