One of the most underrated superfoods that all of us should know about is gur chana. Gur or jaggery has immense benefits. But when combined with chana or chickpea, it becomes akin to a superfood. Here’s why our grandparents were right about this food combination. 

How to eat?

There are two ways gur chana can be eaten. Either have this combination separately. That is take roasted chana and sprinkle jaggery on it. Or combine them in a laddo form by adding roasted chana to jaggery on a medium to low flame. Once mixed, make laddos out of the mixture.

Benefits of Gur chana

Post-workout snack - After having a good session at the gym, it is necessary that one eats something healthy and nutritios. The chana can provide a good source of protein which is essential for your tiring muscles. Jaggery or gur can also help bring your energy level up. 

Menstruating women - When a woman has her period, she is undergoing immense blood loss and her body is weaker compared to the non-period days. Here, eating gur chana will help bring strength to one’s body as jaggery has a sufficient amount of iron and both jaggery and chana have zinc in them. 

Weight-loss - When one starts craving snacks or sweets, they must redirect their craving into eating gur chana. This will satisfy their sugar craving while being healthy and nutritious. Gur and chana is also known to reduce body fat and help shed the extra kilos. Gur chana is also heavy and would therefore fill your stomach for a long while making you eat less junk food.
