The rich Indian tradition always supports the consumption of fresh home-cooked meals. A warm cooked meal is not only tastier but also nutritious. Then why do we choose to give our beloved pets packaged foods? Not only do we not know the ingredients and the making process behind the store brought food, but we also don’t know whether it is healthy enough for our pets. By choosing to make home-cooked meals for your pet, you can ensure they get their adequate dose of minerals and vitamins. This can help their overall development and fur growth. Here are quick and easy home foods for your cats and dogs to enjoy.

Food for Dogs

Your beloved dog is carnivorous in nature. A complete vegetarian or vegan diet for them is not recommended. Veggies and fruits can make up 1/4 of their diet. For this, you can give your dog cucumber, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, pumpkin, peas, sweet potatoes, yam and zucchini. Instead of giving them chopped veggies, puree the vegetable and give them with boiled rice. Fruits like, mango, banana, watermelon and sugarcane can also be given. Citrus foods should be avoided.

Dogs can also be given peanut butter, cheese (not milk cheese) and dahi. Beware few dogs many be lactose-intolerant. The best meal for your dog would be boiled meat. Chicken, lamb, turkey meat can be given. The fat content in the meat should not exceed 20%. Occasionally boiled fish too can be given. Chicken cooked in pressure cooker too works. Boiled eggs can also be given. While feeding your dog, avoid giving chappatis, bread, potatoes as they contain too much starch.

Food for Cats

Every cat owner can confess that their curious cat is always sniffing what their humans eat. Cats have a tendency to pick food from their owners. Feeding a cat can be relatively easy. One can give their furry friend boiled fish, steamed chicken and cooked eggs. Be sure to add no spice or onion or garlic. Cats can also consume steamed vegetables. They can eat fruits like bananas, apples and blueberries. If your cat is lactose intolerant then try giving them nut-based milk.

Such home-cooked meals ensure that your pet gets their nutrition without the added preservatives. It is also quite cost-effective. The results of consuming such food will be better digestion of pets and healthy-shiny fur. Enjoy your next meal with your pet!
