The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has demanded a law on the urgent basis to protect medical professionals from the attack on duty, when there is a rise on number of incidents across the country, of violence against healthcare workers fighting against COVID-19.

The IMA has asked doctors and hospitals across India to light candles on Wednesday as a ‘White Light’ protest against such attacks. White Alert is only a warning, says the IMA in a letter addressed to its doctors and hospitals. They demand from the center to meet their ‘legitimate needs for a safe workplace as said in the letter to all State Presidents and Secretaries, Local branch Presidents and Secretaries and all National office-bearers along with past National Presidents and Past HSGs
