Covid developments across the states for August 3rd

COVID-19 Recovery rate improves to 73.16 percent in Gujarat In Gujarat, 805 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals after recovery during the past 24 hours as the recovery rate has further improved to 73.16 percent. A total of 46,587 patients have been recovered in the state to date.

According to the state health department, 1101 new cases have been reported in the state yesterday. Maximum 209 new cases reported from Surat, while Ahmedabad recorded 143 new cases. Total cases in the state have gone up to 63675. Out of 14601 active cases in the state, the conditions of 81 patients are serious and they are on ventilator support. 22 patients have lost their lives yesterday, taking the total deaths due to Covid-19 in the state up to 2487.

More than 814000 tests have been carried out in the state to date, out of which 23255 tests have been carried out during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has added 7 more areas in the Micro Containment Zone, while removing 9 areas from this list.

Maharashtra reports 9,509 new COVID-19 cases In Maharashtra, 9,926 Covid-19 patients were discharged yesterday after recovering from the disease. With this, the count of the recovered cases in the state now stands at 2,76,809 with a recovery rate of 62.74 percent. But 9,509 new cases were added yesterday in Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally and it took the total number to 4,41,228 on Sunday.

With 260 people succumbing to the infection during the day, the number of victims went up to 15,576. Maharashtra now has 1,48,537 active cases. The state is facing the challenge of controlling the pandemic in Rural areas and it might become more difficult as people from the Konkan region have started their journey from various cities, to attend the upcoming Ganesh Festival.

Madhya Pradesh reports 921 new COVID-19 cases In Madhya Pradesh, the number of COVID-19 cases in the state climbed up to around 33,535 after the 921 new cases reported in the past 24 hours. With ten patients succumbing to the infection during the day, the death toll rose to 886. As per the state health bulletin, 581 coronavirus patients were discharged from the hospitals yesterday taking the number of recovered cases in the state to 23550. There are now 9099 active cases in Madhya Pradesh. The total number of cases in Indore is 7 thousand 555 and 6 thousand 627 in Bhopal. There are 3,246 active containment zones in the state.

98 fresh positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Andaman and Nicobar Islands In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, 98 fresh positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported. These all are among contacts who were found positive during sample testing.

A total of 734 cases of COVID-19 reported in the islands to date out of which 243 have recovered, while 483 are still active. Eight patients have died so far.

After having weekly lockdowns on Saturday and Sunday, now a decision has been taken to keep non-essential shops closed in South Andaman district from midnight tonight till 11th August.

These shops have also been shut down for a week from 2nd August in North and Middle Andaman. The interdistrict public movement has also been restricted.
