India is now the seventh worst-hit country by the COVID-19 pandemic with a tally of 1,82,143 cases including 5,164 casualties, consistent with the world health Organisation coronavirus tracker.

On Sunday, the entire number of COVID-19 cases across the globe stood at 5,934,936 including 367,166 deaths, the WHO said.

Despite India’s surging numbers, it can take solace from the very fact that it is still far behind the united states which lead the table with 1,818,983 cases. Death toll in the US stands at 101,567 but its casualties have slid from a high of 5,475 on May 10 to 1,263 on Sunday (May 31).

Brazil is within the second spot with 501,985 cases while Russia is third with 405,843 cases.
UK, Spain, and Italy are worse off than India

On Sunday, India edged last one-day highest record, counting 8,380 positive cases in the last 24 hours.
It recorded 195 deaths on May 5 before it shot up to 265 casualties on May 30 for the highest single-day number.
India entered the top-ten worst-hit country list on May 25 overtaking Iran when Coronavirus cases went past 138,000, where Iran was pulsing with 135,000 cases.
Maharashtra continues to be the state with the highest COVID-19 cases in India but now most states have reported a surge in positive cases of Coronavirus.
The nationwide tally of coronavirus cases has crossed 1.9 lakh after the record single-day spike in numbers with 8,392 people testing positive within the last 24 hours. The entire cases within the country stood at 1,90,535 including 5,394 deaths, consistent with data from the Union Health Ministry. India has climbed to seventh from the ninth spot within the list of 10 nations worst hit by the pandemic, with more cases than that of France. This is the second straight day that the number of coronavirus cases in India crossed the 8,000-mark during a single day. India now has issued varied guidelines for 'Unlock 1'' that includes permission for inter-state travel. However, worst-hit States like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana extend the lockdown till June 30, of course with several relaxations.
