International Girl Child Day is celebrated worldwide on 11th October 2022. Let us give you some exclusive insights into the theme and significance of it.

Every year on 11 October, International Girl Child Day is celebrated globally in honor and protection of daughters. This day is dedicated to daughters worldwide. In today's era, daughters are giving new wings to their dreams. Now, the time has changed but still in many areas, in different places and countries, daughters are facing discrimination.

International Girl's Day tells that the rights of daughters are equal to that of sons in society. Internationally, Girl's Day has a different history. Let's know about it in detail.

What is the history of International Girl Child Day?

Internationally, Girl's Day first appeared as an NGO Plan International Project, which started the campaign "Because I am a girl". After this, Canada expanded the campaign internationally. The Government of Canada proposed it at the 55th General Assembly. The United Nations passed this resolution on 19 December 2011 and chose 11 October for this, so every year 11 October is celebrated as International Girl Child Day.

First Theme of International Girl Child Day

International Girl Child Day was celebrated for the first time on 11 October 2012 and at that time the first theme of International Girl Child Day was to end child marriage.

In India, many practices that have been going on since ancient times have been abolished, some of them are child marriage, inequality at the level of education, gender inequality, and feticide, but these are still secretly violated today.

What is the theme of International Girl Child Day?

International Girl Child Day is organized globally on 11 October every year to give new dreams to the voice of the girl child around the world. This year the theme of International Girl Child Day is “Our time is now, our rights, our future.”

The Government of India is continuously running many schemes to empower the daughters like Sukanya Yojana, and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, these schemes have to empower and educate the girl child.
