John Hopkins and Princeton Universities distances itself from the weird report on Covid 19 projections for India

John Hopkins University has now disassociated itself from a study which had predicted a high number of casualties in India due to COVID2019 india  and has also said that use of its logo on the report was not authorized, reported PIB recently.

The report claimed about 300 to 400 million people in India could be infected by highly infectitious coronavirus by July if  Government do not intervenes effectively.

Additionally, the report from Center for Diseases Dynamics, Economic and Policy (CDDEP) claimed that "India may see as many as 100 million people contract the coronavirus infection" in the next few months.

In a  tweet, Johns Hopkins University said that “The use of our logo was not authorized in this case and JHU is engaging with CDDEP on it. Thank you.”

The prestigious American university added: “To clarify: Faculty with appointments at @JohnsHopkinsSPH co-authored this report with @CDDEP and Princeton researchers. The report has been updated to clarify its authors  affiliations and does not reflect the views of CDDEP, Johns Hopkins, or Princeton.”

Some of the pages of the report also carried the insignia of Princeton University. On March 28, the prestigious Ivy League institute also distanced itself from the research claiming that its logo was used without authorisation.

"We did not authorize this use of our logo. We're looking into it to get things fixed. Thank you," Princeton University tweeted.

However,  later Princeton clarified that they were in touch with CDDEP with regards to the use of its logo and research was done on its campus but the report was not peer reviewed.

The tweet read: "Update: We've reached the researchers and they are fixing the University's logo in the report as we speak. Further, the work was indeed done at Princeton and is being submitted for peer review."
