Presently 2605 active COVID cases are there in Kerala.

Kerala reported the highest surge of COVID-19 cases in a single day, with the detection of 301 new positive cases today.

The State is in high alert as among the new cases 90 persons contracted the virus through contact which is the highest number of local transmission being reported in the State so far. The situation in the capital city, Thiruvananthapuram, which is presently under triple lockdown, is getting more serious, as out of the 64 new cases in the district 60 cases are through contact. 

The Poonthura region in the district recorded maximum number of contact cases creating an alarming situation. Commandos are being deputed in the region. Widespread antigen test are being done. People are strictly advised to be at home.

Meanwhile, 107 persons recovered from the disease today in the State. Presently 2605 active COVID cases are there in Kerala.

Meanwhile, 1,74,844 are in home/institutional quarantine, 2,915 people are in several hospitals, comprising of 367 admitted today, the minister said.

Malappuram recorded 37 cases, Kannur 35, Palakkad 29, Pathanamthitta 22, Alappuzha and Thrissur 20 each, Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam 16 each, Kasaragod 14, Ernakulam 13, Kozhikode eight, Kottayam six, and Idukki and Wayanad two each. The epicenters as of today have touched 135.

In Malappuram, where over 36,000 people are under observance, the number of coronavirus cases has increased to 278. Kannur has 246 cases and over 22,000 people are under study.
In Telangana, 1,924 persons tested positive for Coronavirus on a single day yesterday. With this, the number of COVID-19 cases reported in the state has gone up to 29 thousand 536.

Out of the fresh cases reported yesterday, 1,590 cases reported from the Hyderabad Municipality Area while Rangareddy district reported 99 fresh COVID cases and Medchal Malkajgiri district accounted for 43. Warangal Rural district reported 26 new cases while Sangareddy reported 20 new cases, Nizamabad reported 19, Mahabubnagar 15, Karimnagar 14, Nalgonda and Rajanna Sircilla Districts reported 13 each and Vikarabad district reported 11. Similarly, 14 other districts also reported fresh COVID cases in single digit each.

Meanwhile, 11 persons died yesterday, taking the total number of deaths relating to COVID-19 and other co-morbidities in the state to 324.

Meanwhile. recoveries were also on the rise with 992 patients being discharged yesterday. With this, a total of 17 thousand 279 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the state so far while 11 thousand 933 people are currently under treatment at various hospitals in the state.
