Collector also urges residents of Vijayawada to get essentials needed for an entire week before June 26

Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district is going to be under the effect of an entire lockdown for seven days starting June 26. This was imminent in light of the rising number of confirmed novel Coronavirus cases in parts of the district.
As per the statement of Krisha District Collector Md Imtiaz, only essential services are going to be allowed in Vijayawada between June 26 and July 2. He further added that only medical shops are going to be permitted to open during this lockdown period.
In his statement, the Collector also urged residents of Vijayawada to get essentials needed for an entire week before June 26. This order, Md Imtiaz said, also will apply to both government and privately-owned offices in Vijayawada.

The Andhra Pradesh Health Department in its daily COVID briefing on Tuesday said that the State has 9,834 confirmed cases of infection. As many as 5,123 of those cases are active while 4,592 patients are discharged after they recovered. The infection, added officials, has claimed 119 lives in Andhra Pradesh so far.

Earlier on Tuesday, an identical decision was made by the Assam government. consistent with an order issued by Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, a complete lockdown came into effect in 11 wards of Guwahati starting 9 pm on Tuesday. This lockdown will continue until further orders.
In a statement, Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna was reportedly quoted as saying, "It has been reported to me by District Magistrate, Kamrup Metropolitan that there's large scale spread of COVID-19 affected cases among the overall residents of certain areas of Guwahati City which has posed as a serious threat to public health, hygiene, and safety of the overall population."
That Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu have the highest burden of COVID-19 cases in India are understood. except for a previous couple of days, Telangana has been witnessing a troubling spike. On June 21, it recorded 730 new cases-- the fourth highest after the three worst-affected states.
With a complete of 7,800 cases till June 21, Telangana, with a population of 35 million people, remains an extended way from the foremost affected states. With 210 cases per million population, it's not even among states with alarmingly high COVID burden.
But over the last week, Telangana has seen an enormous rise in infections and it now has the fastest doubling rate for any Indian state with a minimum of 1,000 cases. Cases are now doubling every 11 days in Telangana, as against 13 in Delhi, 17 in Tamil Nadu, and 24 in Maharashtra.
Until May 25, Telangana never had each day with over 100 cases. Then on June 6, it hit 200 cases. Now, over five days between June 17 and June 21, Telangana has added nearly 2,400 cases or a 3rd of its total incidence.
Telangana’s epidemic is predominantly in Hyderabad, which had 5,512 of the state’s 7,802 cases, and has seen an alarming rise in the week. Daily new cases within the capital have grown from 189 on June 15 to 659 on June 21.
