Maharashtra govt announces stringent Covid-19 curbs including weekend lockdown

All amusement parks, religious places, saloons, parlours, gyms, indoor game facilities will remain closed. While all political, cultural and social gatherings will remain banned, cinema halls and theatres will also remain shut.

In the wake of rising covid19 patients, the Maharashtra government has announced stricter curbs in the state from today to break the chain of coronavirus infections. From today night curfew is imposed in the whole state from 8 PM to 7AM. Section 144 is also imposed in the day time and more than 5 people are not allowed to gather.

On the weekend no one is allowed in public places without valid reasons. All these curbs will remain in place till 30th April. According to to reports, all private offices will have to adopt work from home, while government departments, banking and financial sectors will continue to operate at 50 percent staff capacity. While the health department will continue to work at full capacity, visitors at all government offices are also restricted.

All amusement parks, religious places, saloons, parlours, gyms, indoor game facilities will remain closed. But Gardens and open spaces will remain open from 7 AM to 8 PM and people will have to follow covid appropriate behaviour.

Housing societies having more than five active cases will be declared as a containment zone and any violation of rules will attract a fine of ten thousand rupees.

Marriage functions will not be allowed to have 50 guests while 20 people will be allowed to attend funerals. Film and television shootings will continue with production houses ensuring vaccination and COVID appropriate behaviour in respect of their staff.
