▴ Maharashtra Update: Number of Covid infected patients in BMC area declining steadily
Even though the number of Covid infected patients in the BMC area has been steadily declining, the BMC administration has not allowed any laxity in its continuous effort to restrict the disease.
Mumbai is getting fast out of the Corona grip with the doubling rate crossing 300 days. The average patient growth rate in the BMC area has also come down to 0.22 per cent.
The number of active patients in the BMC area has also been steadily declining. However, considering the possibility of the second wave of Covid, the administration is not taking any chances and is continuing with the effective measures to control the spread of the disease.
Even though the number of Covid infected patients in the BMC area has been steadily declining, the BMC administration has not allowed any laxity in its continuous effort to restrict the disease.

The civic body has started a special campaign to conduct medical tests for Covid on various shopkeepers, shop-hotel employees, BEST drivers-carriers, etc. who came in close contact with a large number of people recently during the Diwali festival.

And if anyone is found infected during this test, then the person is kept in isolation and given necessary medical treatment as well as counseling. The BMC is also appealing to the citizens stating that if anyone experiences any symptoms of Covid, then he should immediately undergo a medical test which can be done even free of cost at 244 government aided dispensaries, hospitals etc. under the jurisdiction of the civic body.

BMC said at present, there are more than 17000 beds in the BMC area for the treatment of Covid patients, out of which more than 12500 beds are lying vacant. All these places  are equipped with  adequate oxygen supply, intensive care unit, ventilator, etc., which  is being reviewed on a daily basis.

Besides, constant awareness on Covid’s preventive measures is being done where people are being told about the importance  of using masks regularly, physical distancing and maintaining proper  hygiene; and penalties are also being imposed on those violating these rules.
