Odisha today received the first consignment of the covid-19 vaccine. A total of 4 lakh and 8 thousand doses of Covishield were brought from the Serum Institute of India in Pune to the capital Bhubaneswar in a special flight this afternoon. The consignment in 34 packages was subsequently transported, amid tight security, to the state vaccine center in the capital.

The first consignment of the COVID vaccine reached Patna this afternoon. Over 54 thousand nine hundred vials of Covishield manufactured by the Serum Institute have arrived at Patna Airport. The arrival of the Vaccine in Patna is a part of the nationwide rollout of the Covid Vaccine on the 16th of this month.

The vaccine has been kept at Nalanda Medical College Hospital, Patna which has been made as the main storage center of the vaccine in the state. The vaccine will be distributed from different parts of the state from this hospital.

Health Minister Mangal Pandey said vaccination will be conducted at 300 health facilities, including medical colleges and primary health centers on January 16. A five-member committee will oversee the drive at each center.

The first consignment of the COVID vaccine reached Guwahati this evening for the North East. Speaking to the reporters, M. Suresh, Regional Executive Director of Airport Authority of India, North-East Region said that the airport authority is well equipped to transport COVID vaccine to different parts of the North East Region. A total of 20 boxes having vaccines close to 2,40,000 doses was delivered at Guwahati Airport. Of this, 17 are for Assam and 3 for Meghalaya. Each box has 12,000 doses of vaccine. On the 16th of this month, vaccination drives will be conducted in Assam at 74 locations.


Karnataka today received the first consignment of 6.48 lakh doses of Covid 19 vaccine. The minister for Health and Medical Education Dr. K Sudhakar informed media persons that 54 boxes of Covi-Shield vaccine sent by Serum Institute in Pune were received in Bengaluru today. He further informed me that another 1.40 lakh doses of vaccine will be received tomorrow in Belagavi, in North Karnataka. Saying that the vaccine is developed and manufactured within the country under Atma Nirbhar Abhiyan, he pointed out that the cost of each dose is just 210 rupees. All the health warriors who are relentlessly working in this fight against Covid 19 will be vaccinated in the first phase on January 16. Dr. Sudhakar said that two lakh health sector workers will administer the vaccine.

In the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination, the Himachal Pradesh government will administer 93 thousand doses of covid vaccines to front-line workers, which include health workers from the state and the armed forces.

In order to carry out this exercise smoothly, 46 sites have been selected all over the State. To monitor the effective administration of vaccination, the State Government has constituted a State Level Steering Committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. Similarly,  State Task Force chaired by Secretary Health, District Task Force by concerned Deputy Commissioner, and Block Task Force chaired by respective SDM.

On the other hand, a State Vaccination Store has been set up at Shimla for proper supply whereas regional vaccine stores have been set up at Mandi and Dharamshala. Similarly, District Vaccine Stores have been set up in all 12 districts of the State, besides 371 stores in Medical Colleges, block-level, CHC, and PHCs.
 

Maharashtra recorded 2,936 new cases of coronavirus today, taking the state’s tally of total cases to 19,74,488. According to the state’s public health department,3,282 patients were discharged today, taking the total number of recoveries to 18,71,270. With 50 fatalities, the state's death toll has risen to 50,151. The number of active cases in the state stands at 51,892.


Maharashtra’s recovery rate stands at 94.77 percent while the case fatality rate stands at 2.54 percent. Maharashtra has conducted 1.35 crore tests so far and the positivity rate stands at 14.63 percent.

With 473 new cases, Mumbai’s caseload has increased to 2,99,799. The city reported 441 recoveries and seven deaths during the day.

In Manipur, the State government has taken all necessary steps for the COVID-19 vaccination campaign which would be kicked off nationwide from the 16th of this month.

Speaking exclusively to AIR News, State Additional  Chief Secretary P. Vaiphei said that the State government has taken all required steps. He also said that the designated vaccine for the State Manipur is Covaxin and the entire cost of the vaccination will be borne by the Central government.

In Meghalaya, the stage is all set to launch the COVID 19 vaccination from the 16th of this month along with the rest of the country.
An aircraft carrying 17 thousand dosages of the vaccine will reach Guwahati today after which the vaccines will be brought to Shillong by tomorrow morning, State Health officials informed.

Prior to the nationwide roll-out of the COVID 19 vaccines from January 16, the State Government has made elaborate preparations by conducting dry runs in various locations. A list of 100 health workers each from 11 districts of the State will be covered for the vaccination drive. The Health officials informed that the vaccination drive will be held at 11 centers in the State on January 16 and 1,100 frontline workers would be vaccinated on that day.

Maharashtra 9.63 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine have been received. Giving this information, State Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that the preparations are in place to vaccinate more than 7.84 lakh healthcare workers across 511 centers in the next three months.

At 72, Mumbai has the largest number of vaccination centers followed by Pune which has 55 centers while Thane has 42, Nashik 23, and Ahmednagar  21 centers. While 17,749 people from Maharashtra have registered as vaccinators on the COWIN app, the number of registrations for private and public healthcare workers stood at 7.84 lakh till Tuesday evening.

In a statement, Maharashtra’s Health Secretary Pradeep Vyas has said that a minimum of 100 people will be vaccinated at each of these centers which have been set up at primary healthcare units, district, and civic hospitals across the state. He added that a five-member team will be present for the vaccination process that will include checking a person’s credentials, administering the vaccine, and half an hour of observation post-vaccination. 
 
Punjab Government is fully geared up for vaccination of Healthcare Workers (HCWs) at 110 sites on January 16. A total of 20,450 vials were received today by the Punjab Health Department officials at Chandigarh Airport.

Disclosing this, the Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that each vial has 10 doses of vaccines. The Minister said the Covishield corona vaccine has been stored at the State Vaccine Store in  Chandigarh.


The Minister said that 5 vaccination sites per district selected for the launch where 100 beneficiaries to be allocated at each site. He said that two session sites to be live-streamed/webcast with the Centre Government at District Hospital SAS Nagar and GMC Amritsar.
