It may be noted that around 17000 Odia migrants have been put in quarantine centres in 503 panchayats under 22 blocks of Ganjam district.

Odisha government on Wednesday deputed a special team comprising Director of Family Welfare department Bijay Kumar Panigrahi and Scientist, RMRC, Bhubaneswar Jaysingh Khatri to supervise surveillance and containment measures in the wake of COVID 19 crisis in Ganjam distrct.

Apart from that, Dean of MKCG Hospital, Berhampur has been asked to constitute a rapid response team comprising a professor from Pulmonary/Medicine department, a professor/associate professor each from Anesthesiology, Microbiology and 2 faculty members from Community Medicine department to strengthen surveillance, contact tracing and testing of people.

It may be noted that around 17000 Odia migrants have been put in quarantine centres in 503 panchayats under 22 blocks of Ganjam district.

In other news ,Centre has extended consular services to foreigners stranded in India due to COVID-19 for a period of up to 30 days from the date when ban on international travel is lifted.

Home Ministry had earlier granted consular services on gratis basis to foreign nationals till 3rd May. After considering the matter, it has been decided to extend the period. Such extensions would be granted for a period up to 30 days from the date of lifting the prohibition on international air travel of passengers from India without levy of over stay penalty.
