MOHAP trains health workers on simulation unit for effective pandemic management

As part of the efforts made to support the front line of defense and to train them on the health tech matters to deal with COVID-19 challenges, the Sharjah Training & Development Center of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, has recently launched the Mobile Simulation Unit.

The service aims to enhance the efficiency of the medical cadres in hospitals, clinics, field hospitals and to update their skills according to the up-to-date protocols and the best health practices and procedures.

The project plays a key role in strengthening the safety of COVID-19 patients as it supports the commitment to patient-centered medical care and continuing medical training, in addition to being a value-added to the training simulation project.

The trial run of this innovative initiative has begun the last month amid positive impressions and increased demands for using the mobile unit in the various facilities. This clinical simulation system helps prepare different scenarios that simulate real cases, creating a safe and integrated simulation environment and a distinctive training for doctors and health practitioners.

This unit would also help improve communication between taskforces and make them ready to handle various medical situations and how to deal with emergencies through the pre-installed scenarios, especially in terms handling COVID-19 critical cases, such as assessing and screening patients, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), infection prevention measures, and communication skills to support patients.

Real training simulation

Increasing the reality of the training simulation is one of the objectives of this initiative. This unit would help allow the trainees to rely on the medical devices they are familiar with in their real health facilities and within the taskforce they work with, adding a high reality level to the training simulation.

In addition, the unit helps raise the institutional preparedness of the current and future health facilities, where the training simulation in the workplace would help ensure that all the equipment and supplies, as well as existing work systems, are able to effectively and safely deal with any health cases.

Innovative training solutions

“This multi-specialty simulation unit for pilot medical training on the COVID-19 health tech matters is a paradigm shift in the innovative training solutions to develop the self-efficacy of doctors and medical cadres. This stems from MoHAP’s keenness to develop its medical cadres to deal with all critical conditions, in accordance with state-of-the-art medical simulation patterns which depends on innovation in the institutional work environment to strengthen the health system, build smart training systems to keep pace with future changes, and build effective local and global partnerships,” said HE Awad Al-Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary of MoHAP’s Support Services Sector.

Enhancing the competency of specialized medical cadres

Saqr Al-Hemeiri, Director of the Training & Development Center, pointed to the significance of the training simulation model to care for the crucial cases of COVID-19 patients, pointing out the tools of this medical simulation will improve the skills of the specialized medical cadres and raise their competency.

Thanks to the precise simulation system and the provision of every single detail of the lifelike clinical practices, this simulation unit is the world’s latest model to train healthcare professionals. It provides safe opportunities for training in dealing with various simple and critical cases, which contributes to developing the cognitive, behavioral, and technical skills of medical cadres.
